Jane March left her clothes on in this and... that is kind of shocking isn't it, but good for her, and disappointing for most of the audience that is used to her... better... movies. Honestly though she's not a bad actress, so her career is really rather confusing. She should be ranked a bit higher. Anyway, the cover, that is certainly bucking for Lord of the Rings isn't it? It's one of those movies that is hoping that cover design alone might prompt someone to accidentally rent it, and that probably makes up for nearly everyone that actually saw it. Ultimately it is an attempt at a re-write of Beauty and the Beast, only darker... but not too dark because it's still PG-13, which is another flaw. It's kind of hard to achieve the fantasy-HORROR take on Beauty and the Beast while keeping to a PG-13 rating. Unfortunately that's not it's only problem, it seems to have one of those scripts that is a cool concept but needed a total re-write and never got one. But it also seems to have one of those directors that didn't know how to get what he wanted from his actors and, in the case of Jane March, probably got in the way of her usual competent delivery (even in some very horrible films).
