Synopsis

Force of Nature, The Dry 2 is the second instalment, in a series of Australian crime thrillers. Lead character, Australian Federal Police detective, Aaron Falk is back. This time the dry outback setting of the first film, is replaced by wet bush lands, in rural Victoria (Melbourne Australia). Like the first film, this one's a worthwhile watch but its not without, its shortcomings. This time around I felt character development, is better managed than its predecessor. You get to know secondary characters in more depth and this certainly add's an extra dimension to the tale that unfolds. What does not work so well is the incessant oscillating between past and present narratives. Its overdone to the point where the cognitive dissonance is, at times, downright maddening, making following along, more arduous, than its needs to be. The overriding story is an interesting one with a few plot twists and turns but again it doesn't really come together, all that satisfyingly. In summary not a bad watch if you like crime thrillers but would have been better served with a more cohesive presentation style and a story to match.
