The Tourist Trap

Groups from the four nationalities arrive at the remote Sultan Palace Hotel. They are told they won a free promotional trip but are unaware they are in a human behavioural experiment. They meet Canam, the only staff member, and encounter their first unusual hotel scenarios.

The guests settle in and encounter the first wave of unusual events, such as chaotic hotel service and strange local excursions, allowing the experimenters to observe initial communication and problem-solving styles.

Hidden cameras document how the nationalities respond as the hotel experience starts to unravel. Two undercover actors in each group begin to exhibit bizarre behavior designed to act as a catalyst for holiday stress.

The stress of a "disastrous" holiday escalates, clearly highlighting differing approaches to complaint management, rule adherence, and conflict resolution among the guests.

The experimenters introduce new covert scenarios to push the vacationers to their limits, highlighting the exact moments where stereotypes about politeness, assertiveness, or volume come into play.

The groups reach the end of their trips. The experiment concludes, providing a summary of how each of the four nationalities handled the bizarre and challenging week.
