Stolen
Synopsis
Master thief Will Montgomery is just released from the State penitentiary after serving a 10 year sentence, is contacted by Vincent, his ex comrade in crime, who is holding Will’s teenage daughter ransom in a hijacked taxi cab. Vincent will only surrender her when Will reveals the whereabouts of the 20 million dollars he contrived to conceal from their last robbery.

Nicolas Cage is in his element here, bringing his usual intensity to a role that keeps the stakes high and the energy flowing. The movie doesn’t try to be revolutionary, it leans into familiar tropes like desperate missions and a ticking clock, but it does so in a way that keeps you entertained. The New Orleans backdrop adds a bit of flair, even if it’s not fully utilized, and Simon West’s direction ensures the pacing rarely drags. While the story feels predictable at times, the action sequences are well-executed, and the performances, especially Cage’s, keep the film engaging. The villain might feel a bit over-the-top, but it fits the movie’s tone if you’re up for something a little campy. Stolen isn’t a groundbreaking film, but it’s fun, fast-paced, and delivers just enough thrills to be worth the watch. Not Cage’s best, but definitely entertaining for fans of his work.
